How to Improve the Efficiency of Check-In Counter: A Counter-Sharing Method

Improving the efficiency of check-in counters is a significant concern for airport operation management departments and airline companies. However, existing studies mainly optimize counter allocation based on number demands, which needs more exploration improving utilization rate under condition unchanged resource allocation. In this paper, we propose counter-sharing method to improve by sharing idle in adjacent area. proposed method, first define passenger’s total walking distance waiting time queues as metrics, then reassign areas adjust internal departure sequence flights maximize rate. The numerical results indicate that can reduce queue during process, enhance airport’s competitiveness.
